FAQs

What is the average length of time a typical client stays on program?

This varies depending on the patient’s diagnosis, their current status, their insurance and their compliance with the program.  We have found that the typical patient is on program twice weekly for 10 - 12 weeks with follow ups and periodic “check -ins” following discharge.

Is the scope of practice in most states for OT and PT in sync with the services we will be providing in the program?

Yes and in addition, both the AOTA and the APTA fully support therapists who include obesity rehab, chronic disease management, and wellness in their practices. Therapists are qualified to provide intervention to consumers that optimizes health, and we often, both directly and indirectly, guide patients in weight management and related concerns by influencing and educating on optimal lifestyle choices.

Is this billable using standard CPT codes both for in and out of network billing?

Yes, since this is clearly established as within our scope of practice, the components of the program are billable under both the OT and PT umbrella. Part of the training every provider receives is specifics on how to bill for the services you provide under the Healthē Habits for Living program.

How long does it typically take for a provider to make back their investment in the program?

While this of course in part depends on how much each provider charges for each session, our experience has been that the average client receives 15 sessions at an average bill rate of $85.
So if each client brings in an average of $1275 in gross revenue, it takes little more than enrolling one patient on the program to actualize a positive return on your investment!

How do most therapists integrate this program into their practice?

Most existing practices use the Healthē Habits for Living program as a way to jumpstart their practice when they are experiencing a decrease in census, a way to distinguish themselves from competitors, a way to encourage former patients to come back in to participate in a new program, and in general, as a very effective tool to stay current and keep their practice and staff energized and excited about new offerings.  We have found  there is no “bad” time to announce this program. For new practice owners, it gets built into what they offer from the very beginning and helps to promote the practice.

Do I need to get additional insurance?

No, since the components of the program are under the scope of practice, the services offered under the program are covered under current professional liability policies.

How long does the training take before a therapist can start to implement Healthe Habits for Living   in their practice?

Typically, it takes approximately 10 hours of training to fully integrate the program into a practice.
